M. 9-22—ALL BLKS—Literary terms test 1 is over first half of the literary terms sheet given on first or second day of class; be able to define each term and/or spot/provide examples of. 

HW: Remember, you do have a diction test a week from today; study NOW –not over the holiday.  Please plan ahead; your holidays are an important part of your Judaism.

M. 9-29—ALL BLKS—Diction 1 test; this takes about 20 minutes. Know how to spell each word, the definition and use so that you can avoid common usage errors.

T. 9-30—BLKS 1,5,3—grammar (quiz?), diagramming;

W. 10-1—BLKS 1,6,3—Roots 2 test; remember that all roots tests are comprehensive; be sure you know the information from roots page 1 as well.  If you stay caught up, you will be fine.  If you get behind on the roots packet, each test will be more and more difficult to do well on. The ol’ snowball effect is hard to manage.

F. 10-3—C DAY/ALL BLKS/Noon dismissal for Yom Kippur.  I will hand out your next class-assigned novel SPEAK.   Do not read over holiday. Due dates for reading/quizzes:

                                                                        Marking Period 3 10-28 or 10-29 (see your block);

September 8--- September 22/Fields 8th grade Language Arts classes

 

WEEK 5:

M. 9-8—ALL BLKS – 15 minute roots 1 test; any questions re: ASP?  Any loose ends re: ASP? Ms. Fields prepares rubric for short story you will write and copy of “DogGONE Ending…” to read and study short story elements and progression of plot.

T. 9-9—BLKS 1,5,3 – Auto/biography writing assignments due; be sure we have finished good discussion/examination of Freitag’s pyramid and “Story of Hour”, elements of short story/novel – difference; see diagram that shows elements.

W. 9-10—BLKS 1,6,3—Auto/biography writing assignments due; be sure we have finished good discussion/examination of Freitag’s pyramid and “Story of an Hour”, elements of short story/novel – difference; see diagram that shows elements of.
