*NOTE: Each reading deadline you will have a quiz on the deadline date; that will be followed usually by a couple or three days of discussion and related ideas; also, each reading deadline date you should come with 3 interesting or troubling or powerful or favorite quotes; these should be typed in correct MLA format.  See the sheet I gave you on first day (All submitted papers must be…) to show you how to do that correctly if you do not know or have forgotten over the summer…I do deduct points for improper MLA.  In addition to 3 quotes, every reading deadline date you should also come with 3 questions; these also should be typed on same page as the quotes.  Often I will take these up; always we will use as springboard for in-class discussions.

We start integrated weeklong unit on Civil Discourse, and we will tie in parts of Fahrenheit 451 with some exercise on Civil Discourse, which you prepared/researched before the holidays.  Let’s remember the word “civil” as we go forward.  Today, you should have completed Fahrenheit 451, part 1.
