WEEK 4: 

Mon., Sept. 7  HOLIDAY!!!!!!     Rest for the weary on Labor Day….

Tues., Sept. 8  Blks. 1,3  I will be sure that we have finished Grab and Gab; We will begin to discuss some ideas in ASP: What is a “SP”?  Look at bullying, ants, appearance vs. reality, personal values/characters’ values, Genesis story, characterization, archetype, several literary trends, names, epiphany, fake persona vs. authentic individual – why?, (Leper, Gene, Finny, Brinker…), motivations,… Turn in parent signature by tomorrow to earn 100 as quiz grade.

Tues., Sept. 15  HOLIDAY:  Rosh Hashana—ENJOY!

Wed., Sept. 16  Blks. 1,7,6,3  We will either read a short story in class, or I will assign it for HW, depending on whether we finished everything last week or not.

Thurs., Sept. 17  “A” day: all blks.  Discuss “Story of an Hour” and apply several literary trends plus Freitag’s Pyramid of plot development.

Fri., Sept. 13  All blks.  Vocabulary test, Unit 1  (25 minutes); tie up loose ends from the week.  Be sure you are reading your bio/autobio because your writing assignment on that is due Fri., Sept 25.

WEEK: 6

Mon. Sept. 21  All blks.  15 minutes for Roots 1 test.  I will assign narrative writing paper and talk about plot, tone, dialogue, title and other expectations.  I will give you an example of one that I wrote about my dog Zoey, and I will give you rubric.

Tues., Sept. 22 – Erev Yom Kippur/half day for student activities.

Wed.,  Sept. 23  HOLIDAY/Yom Kippur

Thurs., Sept. 24 10:00AM start /CONTINENTAL CONGRESS DAY – Fun!!!!

Fri., Sept. 25  All blks.  Your (auto)biography writing assignment is due. Introduction to grammar/Grammar House; introduction to analogies and how to work them more easily than you have been taught before.
